The Crafts and Lace Site This lesson was created for the use of the Online Tatting Class on 10th February 2002, when they were using the Simple Cross in the Patterns section of this Website to teach the technique of Shuttle Thread Joins.
![]() Tighten up the chain ready for joining. You must do this before the join is made because you cannot make any adjustments to the tension of the chain after you have made the join. Pull the loop coming from the shuttle through the picot to which you intend to join, and draw the chain close up to the picot.
Put the shuttle through the loop. Be careful not to twist it. Pull the loop out at right angles to the tatting. If you don't you will get a lopsided join. Carefully tighten the chain against the picot. Draw the loop up firmly to make the Shuttle Thread Join. | ||||||||||
