MATERIALS

• 2 tatting shuttles
  
• No. 20 crochet cotton

SIZE

• 4.5 cm from JK to JK

This pattern was actually designed some years ago and has been published in the Ring of Tatters Magazine. It is not difficult and tatters of all levels will enjoy the motif which features the technique of Josephine knots.

1. Wind 2 shuttles with about 4 yards each (generous estimate), do not cut the thread between the shuttles
   
2. SH1
   R 3 DS, 5 P sep by 3 DS, 3 DS, cl. R, RW.
   
3. SH2
   Josephine Knot (from now on JK) 10 half stitches (HS), cl. R, RW.
   
4. SH1
   C 12 DS, RW.
   
5. SH1
   R 3 DS, P, 3 DS, J to adjacent P of 1 ^st R, 3 DS, 3 P sep by 3 DS, 3 DS, cl. R, RW.
   
6. Repeat Steps until there are 7 large Rs at the centre of the motif.
   
7. SH2
   JK 10 HS, cl. R, RW.
   
8. SH1
   C 12 DS, RW.
   
9. SH1
   R 3 DS, P, 3 DS, J to adjacent P of previous R, 3 DS, P, 3 DS, J to 2 ^nd P of 1 ^st R, 3 DS, P, 3 DS, cl. R, RW.
   
10. SH2
    JK 10 HS, cl. R, do not RW.
    
11. SH1
    C 12 DS, J to base of 1 ^st R and finish ends.
