Here is my tree background - I couldn't resist adding a few snowflakes to it! I reduced the opacity of the trees layer some more as the depth of the black in the trees would have made text difficult to read. Also, I would use this background as the body background with tables layered on top of it for this reason.

Here is my patterned table. I made a couple of changes to Deb's coding and used a patterned background for the body as well as the border of the table - this meant I had to create my corners at 30 pixels instead of resizing, and using the patterned background fills at 100%. To create the space around the text, I removed the COLSPAN="3" command, added two extra table cells and created a transparent GIF image 1 pixel x 1 pixel. I then inserted this in the new table cells as an image but set width to 30 pixels.
