   In the first week of the course we studied the use of layers and vectors. That was a wonderful lesson and I learned a tremendous amount. First we made an image consisting of many different layers which you could select to make different pictures. Here's the one we did in class:-    I had a lot of fun playing with that lesson and came up with this series. The face was drawn from a smiley face found in the Shapes collection in Paint Shop Pro. I selected it with the Magic Wand and applied Inner Bevel - Bevel. Then I deselected the face and did the same thing with the mouth. Finally when I added the party mask I did the same thing.    
 Finally we made a banner using opacity and layers together which created some beautiful effects. I used a white layer set to low opacity to make the title banner of this page and moved it below the Bluebirds layers in order to prevent them from being lightened. The bluebirds by the way were originally white but I darkened them by selecting the Exclusion option from the Normal tab. To get the backgrounds for this web page I selected the colours using the Dropper tool and the original image. I also added another white layer and reduced the opacity on top of the bluebirds as I didn't want them so sharp in relation to the text.
